Finance Council Minutes February 2010

Finance Council Minutes ~ February 9, 2010

Present: Lorraine Bailey, Fr. Don Dilg, Terry Lutz, Dale Schnitker, Vicki Rector, Todd Wiseman

Absent: Johnny Lopez, Keith Waggoner

Meeting called to order at 9:02 a.m. with a prayer led by Fr. Don

Welcome new members: Terry Lutz and Todd Wiseman. Plan to add one new member, possibly younger parishioner.

Preliminary questions and statements from new members:

  • Solvency issues of Park State Bank queried. Tony Perry, President of Park State Bank, met separately with Lorraine Bailey and Vicki Rector. Both are satisfied that they are comfortable with the strategies and procedures PSB is taking to resolve its economic issues. As long as OLW keeps their funds within the FDIC insurance limits of $250,000, there is no concern at this time.
  • Trust issues between OLW and St. P/St. V. Issues discussed and specific items explained, though not resolved as of end of meeting.

Financial Statements – St. Peter/St. Victor

  • No significant issues
  • Reviewed, discussed, accepted

Proposal for refurbishing kneelers at St. Victor (see attached).

  • Estimate by Art Bordage for $939.
  • Decision to agree if actual proposal comes in under $1,000.

Financial Statements – Our Lady of the Woods

  • No significant issues
  • Reviewed, discussed, accepted

Analysis of Contributions (see attached document)

  • Document is of interest. Might be useful for parish distribution.
  • Suggest some changes to document; will repeat for next meeting for further discussion.
  • 39% of parishioners contribute; national average is 40%
  • Goal is to cultivate responsible discipleship in supporting parish better. This is the message … not to increase giving solely.

Membership

  • Maturation of terms of current members are set at:
    • December 2010 – Lorraine Bailey
    • December 2011 – Johnny Lopez
    • December 2012 – Dale Schnitker and Terry Lutz
    • December 2013 – Todd Wiseman

Planned Giving … diocese has plan to promote this sort of contributions. Copies given to council members.

Finance Council Chairperson will be elected at next month’s meeting.

Meeting Dates are SECOND Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Next meeting will be March 9, 2010.

Adjourned 10:06 a.m. with prayer led by Lorraine

Respectfully Submitted

Vicki Rector, Business Manager
